When Cool People Eat, We Feel Inspired
“Eating With Cool People” is a fun way to eat, drink, and be merry with all sorts of interesting characters near and far. And you don’t have to change out of your pajamas! We whip up the questions for people we like and bake their responses into a fun video and story.
When I think of what makes someone cool, it’s usually in the things that make them different. Why? Because diversity is delightful and delicious.
Our first edition of EWCP showcased author Claire Wong who shared her favorite foods in Yorkshire where she lives. We had links to cool coffee we never heard of, and a tiny little sushi place in Leeds. We even got to know the characters in her book by asking what they would eat. When we are able to travel abroad, I bet we will take a bite out of life again.
For now, why not taste it from home?
One of my favorite interviews was with a woman who was not rich, famous, or celebrated by anyone other than her family. She did survive the Nazis coming into her family farm when she was a little girl in Austria. I will never forget the twinkle in her blue eyes while she stirred up memories. She said that cooking the treasured family recipe for spaetzle connects her to her history. If that isn’t cool, I don’t know what is.
If you know someone who likes to talk about food and is really cool to you, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. It could be someone you know and love. Or maybe you admire someone in the world you never met? I will do my best to cook up some good stories with them. If you are bold with your suggestions, I will be bold with my requests for an interview.
It will be interesting to see who people nominate. I wonder if we will have any multiple requests.
What is cool to you and why?
